Today we compare the new and promising HTC One with the soon to come Apple iPhone 6. This is one of the most interesting comparisons since we have the Apple iPhone 6 on one hand and the new HTC One on the other.
The HTC One is the new flagship device of the company which brings a lot of new features like the Ultra Pixel camera, HTC Sense UI v5 and a 4.7-inch display with a very high pixel density. The Apple iPhone 6 on the other hand will definitely be the game changer for Apple. It is said that iPhone 6 will have a 5-inch retina display, high performance hardware and an even better camera.
So let us compare these two smartphones in a one on one comparison of specs and features to find out which of the two turns out to be the better phone.

DESIGN
The HTC One is the new flagship device of the company. It has a cool design, a sleek aluminum body and a very powerful hardware configuration. This smartphone is available in Black, Silver and Red color options. The Apple iPhone 6 might once again have an all new design like in case of the iPhone 5 which was very much different as compared to the iPhone 4 or 4S. It will still have the typical Apple appeal and will be super cool just like all the other iPhones.
DISPLAY
The HTC One has a 4.7-inch Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen display. It has a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels with a pixel density of 469 ppi. This pixel density is the highest pixel density available in any mobile or tablet in the market today. The display is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2. The iPhone 6 on the other hand, will have a 5-inch widescreen Multi-Touch retina display. The screen resolution is still not clear but the display will have a very high pixel density just like the HTC One. Apple already knows how good the HTC One is when it comes to pixel density. Now it is up to Apple if it wants to challenge this level of pixel density or continue with its own idea of what is right and good for the customers.
HARDWARE
The HTC One has the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset. It is powered by the 1.7 GHz Krait 300 quad-core processor, an Adreno 320 GPU and a 2 GB RAM. The Apple iPhone 6 will have the Apple A7 Chipset. This chipset will have a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor with a newer version PowerVR GPU that might supports more than the triple-core graphics of the A6 chipset. This smartphone will have a 2 GB RAM. Apple devices have always been low on hardware, at least when you put it on paper. Of course the hardware is able to perform very well thanks to the unique hardware and software combination in the Apple devices.
OPERATING SYSTEM
The HTC One runs on the latest Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system. The operating system is upgradable to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. This smartphone also has the HTC Sense UI v5 which gives you the special and personal touch of HTC. The iPhone 6 runs on the latest version of iOS which could be the new iOS 7. Upgrades and updates are always welcome and can be readily installed.
STORAGE
The HTC One has in-built storage options of 32 and 64 GB. Both these options will provide you with a lot of storage space but there is one disadvantage of the HTC One. This smartphone does not have a micro SD card support. The Apple iPhone 6 like all standard Apple devices will have in-built storage options of 16, 32 and 64 GB. It is also possible that the iPhone 6 will also have a 128 GB model. I doubt whether the iPhone 6 will provide a micro SD card support.
CAMERA
The Primary Camera on the HTC One is a ‘4 ULTRA PIXEL’ camera which logically equals to a 13 MP Camera. This new concept of Ultra Pixels focuses on the sensor and pixel size rather than pure megapixel count. This smartphone also has a 2.1 MP Secondary Camera. Even though the HTC One has the new ultra pixel camera which might make a new standard for cameras, the iPhone 6 will still surprise the world with its new camera. It is expected that the iPhone 6 will have a 13 MP high performance camera and a 2 to 3 MP Secondary Camera.
BATTERY
The HTC One has a standard non-removable Li-Po 2300 mAh battery. There are no official statistics about the talk time and stand by time provided by this battery as of now. The iPhone 6 will also a very high performance battery. With performance I do not mean the capacity. Even the iPhone 5 has a very good battery performance but the capacity is just about 1440 mAh which is very low when compared to other high performance smartphones. The iPhone 6 will have a better capacity battery compared to the iPhone 5 and hence a very good back up as well.
DIMENSIONS
The dimensions of the HTC One are 137.4 x 68.2 x 9.3 mm. The dimensions of the Apple iPhone 6 are unknown since the phone has not been officially announced. But the Apple iPhone 5 has shown that in spite of the high performance and build quality, a smartphone can be super slim. So I assume that the iPhone 6 will be definitely slimmer than the HTC One.
WEIGHT
The HTC One weighs about 143 grams. The iPhone 6 will be a very lightweight smartphone just like the Apple iPhone 5. So in spite of the high performance hardware and metal design body, the iPhone 6 will still be a super light device.
CONCLUSION
The iPhone 6 will definitely be one of the most interesting smartphones to enter the mobile market this year. Even though the device will be super slim and light in weight, these are not the segments using which we should compare this device with the HTC One. Both size and weight have a lot to do with personal choice and everyone has their own preferences.
So the real test will be the display, hardware and the camera. The HTC One excels in all these three categories as it has a very crisp and clear display, powerful hardware configuration and the new ultra pixel camera which is said to give a better performance compared to the normal mega pixel cameras.
The iPhone 6 will have a retina display may be a new level of retina display that improves display clarity and pixel density. And even though the iPhone 6 might have a comparatively low profile processor on paper, the unique iOS operating system and the high performance GPU will balance the system and make the iPhone 6 perform super fast. The next interesting point to check out will be the new camera that Apple will install on the iPhone 6. Will it be able to perform better than the ultra pixel camera on the HTC One?
