Lumia 720: 10 Features You Need to Know Before Buying Nokia WP8 Smartphone

Lumia, Lumia! Everywhere its Lumia. Nokia released its budget Windows Phone 8 range in India on Wednesday. The third wave of Lumia smartphones - Lumia 520 and Lumia 720 will hit the retail shelves sometime in April.

The tech media is flooded with news about the price, specifications and availability of the duo smartphones, but what is new in them? Coming to the mid-range offering - Lumia 720, the handset has better features as compared to the budget one - Lumia 520. By saying better features, it means that Lumia 720 has some advanced software aspects that are missing in its counterpart.

Hence, Gizbot has taken the effort throw some light on the software features and the key elements of Lumia 720. Consumers who are interested in buying the handset soon as it is released into the market can avail in-depth knowledge about the smartphone here.

The Finnish tech firm seems to have incorporated a lot of innovations in Lumia 720. This move of Nokia reflects its ambitions to regain the lost foothold in the smartphone space with the power of the WP8 platform.
Below are the main highlights of Lumia 720. Have a look at them.
ClearBlack Display
Lumia 720 houses a slightly larger 4.3 inch multi-touch ClearBlack capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels, 217 ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection. The ClearBlack display technology reduces the reflections and improves sunlight legibility. Further, it comes with 'super sensitive touch', which indicates that the display can be operated with glove-covered hands.
Here Maps
Nokia is proving itself as a front runner when it comes to mobile mapping technology. At MWC, the firm announced several new features for its Here mapping service, including futuristic augmented reality integration. Currently, the service includes Nokia exclusive apps including Nokai Maps, Nokia Drive and Transit.
PurView Camera
Much like with its mapping services, Nokia continues to innovate in cameras. Nokia Lumia 720 comes equipped with a top-end 6.7MP rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics as in Lumia 920 and there is also a 1.3MP front camera with 720p video recording.
Lumia Apps
Lumia 720 can capture great quality images at almost any condition with the unique Lumia applications including Glam Me, which offers the perfect profile picture, SmartShoot for Burst Mode experience and Cinemagraph to create animated GIF files.
Nokia LiveSight
Nokia has also announced a new feature cammed LiveSight, which isa technology based on accurate 3D maps. The feature provides the most precise and intuitive augmented reality experience and uses the Lumia 720 camera viewfinder to discover the world using the handset.
Nokia City Lens
Nokia City Lens was developed exclusively for the Lumiia smartphones and it is the first application using the LiveSight technology. The app lets consumers know about the various hangout locations including restaurants and more available.
Nokia Music
Lumia 720 comes with Nokia's Music app preloaded, which offers users a free music streaming service which looks to compete with the likes of Spotify. It also comes with a paid-for option costing half the price of rival services, which offers unlimited streaming, unlimited downloads and high-quality audio playback.
Wireless charging
Interestingly, Nokia Lumia 720 supports wireless charging, but this is an optional feature and those consumers who opt for the same will have to invest in purchasing a separate wireless charging cover for the smartphone.
NFC
While many believe NFC will never take off, Nokia has certainly put it to good use in its latest Lumia device. Our favorite feature is the ability to wirelessly hook it up to one of Nokia's JBL speaker system, which also come with the ability to charge the handsets.
Aesthetics
While several companies are afraid to think differently, Nokia continues to produce great looking, colorful smartphones and 720 is no exception. The smartphone is available in numerous color options including yellow, blue and pink.
