Windows Phone 8 brings Microsoft's mobile platform into the modern smartphone era, with better support for high-resolution displays, faster processors, and removable storage. Its user interface offers more customization options, and its built-in apps include an updated and much improved version of Internet Explorer, along with Nokia's mapping software.
The "Kid's Corner" function lets you block access to certain apps, so that you can let your kids play games on the phone, without having to worry that they might delete all of your email. While there are fewer third-party apps available for WP8 than for Android or iOS, the OS supports all apps written for earlier versions of Windows Phone, and there are over WP 100,000 apps out there, including Facebook, YouTube, Netflix, and, of course, Angry Birds. However, if there's a specific app that you must have, you should check to see if it's available before picking up a phone running WP8.
