10 Women Athletes to Watch For in 2013

The year of 2012 is coming to an end so it’s time to predict the year to come.
These are the top-20 female athletes to watch for in the year of 2013. They are the ones who made their debuts more recently but haven’t made their way up to the top.
Most of them are predicted to have an athletic success but of course many are considered for their modeling ability as well. It’s the women that you will not want to miss in the upcoming year.
The top-20 list consists of females from college and professional sports. You’ll notice that there is not one sport in particular that rules over the list; the upcoming year holds for success from a variety of sports.
Sometimes you need to take a look past the most popular sports and look at those that do not receive as much media attention. A few of these girls even reign from different countries.
This time around there are a few more female MMA fighters due to the sport’s increasing popularity.
Many of these are young females, so they haven’t really had their chance to shine in the spotlight. However with their success this year, they are bound to make themselves known sometime soon.
These females fit into two main categories: good-looks and incredible athletic ability. A great example of an unheard name is Alana Blanchard, the professional surfer in the picture above.
Forget the fact that the world is supposed to end in two days; be prepared to see these names in the media during 2013 and enjoy the show.

1. Jonelle Filigno

She hails from Canada but currently plays soccer at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Filigno made her worldwide debut playing for the Canadian Women's Soccer team in the 2012 London Olympics

2. Casey Eastham

Eastham comes from a sport that most people don't pay attention to: field hockey. However those that pay attention to the sport call her one of the best field hockey players in the world. At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, she was the youngest member of the Australian team.
