How to Get Facebook Home on April 12

Eager to try Facebook Home? You won't be able to do that today, but on April 12, you'll be able to download the software on three currently available smartphones that are supported by the new Facebook Home Android experience.

The most seamless way to get your hands on Facebook Home is to pick up HTC's new phone specifically created for it, the HTC First. It'll be available on April 12 for $99.99 with a two-year contract, exclusively from AT&T. It will have a 4.3-inch glass display, Android 4.1 Jellybean underneath, and will be available in four colors: black, white, light blue and red.

According to Zuckerberg, there will be four Android phones that will support an installation of Facebook Home from the Google Play Store, in addition to the preinstalled Facebook Home on the new HTC First. "At first we'll be supporting a few devices," Zuckerberg said, including the HTC One, HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S III, Samsung Galaxy S 4 (that will be in the future), and the Samsung Galaxy Note II.

"It'll be really simple," Zuckerberg said, talking about Facebook Home's installation routine. "After we launch, if you have the most recent Facebook app on Android or Messenger on Android, all you need to do is click 'install.' It takes you to the Google Play Store."
Zuckerberg said that when you launch this installer, Android will ask you if you'd like to try it once, or if you're sure you want to keep it, it offers the option of installing it permanently.
